How did you sleep last night?
That can be a long conversation.
But wait a sec, because the best sleep actually starts now, in the morning, through the day.
Let's just rewind, so you know where I'm coming from.
My whole life, until my 20s, sleep was something I thought I just wasn't good at, wasn't built for. I was a night person, and I should just accept it. Until I took my first yoga class, as a Peace Corps Volunteer, In Honduras, when I was 23 years old. It was a Bikram class, taught by another volunteer, Helen, who wasn't even a yoga teacher, she just knew the 26 postures by doing it herself and following along in a book she brought with her. So Helen was our teacher and the tropical outdoor setting our classroom. We lengthened, and strengthened, and twisted and breathed, and of course....savasana. That night, I laid in bed, on my back, face up, and did what I have never done before.....I fell asleep. Just like that. No tossing, no turning, no looking at the clock.......And so I was hooked...on yoga.....on sleep.....and I learned that I can change that pattern that I lived with my whole life.
Back to your best sleep that starts now......
Because you know one thing leads to another....
That waking up at 6am will help you get to sleep at 10pm
That yoga/running/HIIT/pilates will ease your anxiety
That meditating will give you as much energy as a cup of coffee
That drinking more water will help you drink less coffee
That eating a substantial breakfast will keep you full til' lunch
And a substantial lunch will keep you full til' dinner
And a lighter dinner will help you sleep with a quiet stomach
And letting go of late night snacks & drinks will encourage you to leave the kitchen
(and will keep you from waking up at 3am)
And here we are at 10pm
And you are....asleep
What story have you been carrying around your whole life that you are ready to change?
Your Sleep
Your Weight
Your Eating Habits
Your "I'm "X" age so I can't do "Y" anymore"
Lots of love and tons of health,
Jill
