Are you at the Starbucks drive-thru... again?
Are you on auto pilot at 3pm to seek a boost?
Try this instead.
First of all, don't rush it. Take your time, in part, you are just looking for a break, a shift, maybe some movement out of your chair after a day full of zoom, or homeschooling, or sitting.
Here are some alternatives that really hit the spot, some have caffeine, some don't, maybe you'll forget after your first sip.
CCF Tea
1 tsp. cumin seeds, 1 tsp. coriander seeds, 1 tsp. fennel seeds (can sub powder if you don't have seeds)
* Ayurvedic tea that aids in digestion
Water w/lemon
*Often when you drink a tall glass of water, you feel more energy and you lose the craving for coffee
Crowd out the coffee with a Latte
Steam or heat 6 ozs. almond milk or coconut milk and add in any of the following:
An espresso or 2ozs. coffee
Adapotogens: Ashwaganda or Reishi
Ground: Tumeric, Nutmeg, Cinnamon, Ginger, Cardamon (any combo that appeals to you)
Matcha Latte: Matcha Powder + Alternative Milk or Hot Water
*To sweeten, just a bit of maple syrup, honey, or pure vanilla extract should do the trick
Not only should you feel better at 4pm, but tonight, when you are ready for sleep, it should come more easily.
